Cardiothoracic Surgery
Gulf Coast Medical Group works with a dedicated cardiovascular team at ShorePoint Health Venice, which includes surgeons, anesthesiologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, perfusionists and nurses trained in advanced surgical methods. After examining bypass, vascular and heart valve surgery from all angles, we have developed a unique team approach that allows complicated surgical procedures to run seamlessly for patients as well as our staff. The team draws upon vast collective experience to determine the best surgical solution to each diagnosis.
Each member of the surgical team plays an important role. One distinguishing factor is the close work with a ShorePoint Health Venice cardiovascular anesthesiologist, who continually follows and directs care as the patient transitions from the operating room to the cardiovascular intensive care unit. After about 24 hours, they transfer to cardiovascular step-down care, where they will recover until they are ready to return home. If you are a patient, the goal is for you to become active again as quickly as possible.
